IPL

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) is also known by the term Fotofacial. This treatment eliminates age spots, spider veins, freckles and other discolorations of the skin. With intense pulsed light therapy, the patient's eyes are covered with a protective shielding as the IPL hand piece emits bright flashes of light directly into the skin. These bursts of light are absorbed by darkly colored cells in the skin as heat. This destroys the darker cells, thus eliminating the discoloration.

Patients report that IPL feels like a small rubber band is being snapped against the skin but it is otherwise painless. Results begin appearing within a few days to a few weeks.
